Description

Bolt Cutter is comprised of 48% Cabernet, 27% Petit Verdot and 25% Syrah.   Big, bold and jammy, this blend hits all the right notes with notes of vanilla and baking spice.  Full bodied on the palate with juicy plum and blackberry flavors.  Tannins are soft, round and approachable.  Nice long finish.

What began in 2001 as a 7 barrel homage to winemaker/proprietor Russell P. From’s grandfather, has become a beacon to those seeking opulent, structured Syrah and Grenache. These are no nonsense, balls to the walls wines that are not for the faint of heart or the pinkie raising set. Russell sources fruit from 30 top-tier vineyards in 7+ distinct growing regions from Santa Ynez to Paso Robles. Vineyards of particular note include: Bien Nacido, Larner, Shadow Canyon, Vogelzang and White Hawk. According to Jeb Dunnuck in Wine Advocate “For those looking for super-concentrated, extroverted, exuberant, powerhouse wines from California’s Central Coast need look no further than the Herman Story estate.”
